Unintended Consequences
The birth of the Nanny State has begun. Large corporations are asking the Government to give them waivers or delay implementation of ObamaCare or they will be forced to drop Insurance coverage for their employees.

Under the new health care law, consumers using workplace pre-tax health savings accounts will soon need a doctor's note to pay for Tylenol and an estimated 15,000 other over-the-counter drugs.
Starting Jan. 1, employees who use flexible spending accounts (FSAs), health saving accounts (HSAs), or health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) to pay for common medications such as pain relievers, cold medicines, antacids and allergy medications will need prescriptions. The new rules don't apply to insulin.
The new rules will also prohibit the use of FSA or HRA debit cards provided by administrative plans for over-the-counter purchases, because the IRS says there's no way to prove the drugs were prescribed.
The IRS says any money removed from HSA accounts to pay for medical expenses bought without a prescription will be included as taxable income and subject to an additional tax of 20 percent.
Robert Zirkelbach, a spokesman for America's Health Insurance Plans, the industry lobby that voiced support for the overhaul but has been accused by some of the law's proponents of trying to undermine it, said the law creates "unintended consequences."
"It creates unnecessary hassles for consumers and provides the wrong kind of incentives," Zirkelbach said, adding that the changes could make it more difficult for consumers to get medicines they need at costs they can afford.
"This change could have the unintended consequence of increasing health care costs," he said. It might provide an incentive for consumers to go back on more expensive medications when over-the-counter medicine works just fine."
More than 10 million consumers use HSAs, according to a survey done in January by AHIP. That's up from 8 million in 2009 and 6.1 million in 2008.
According to an analysis by benefits administrator Aon Hewitt of more than 220 employers covering more than 6 million workers, 20 percent of employees, or 1.2 million, contributed to an FSA in 2010. Of those workers, the average annual contribution is $1,441.
FSAs and HSAs allow workers to reduce their taxable income to pay for qualified health care or child care expenses. Anyone with a high-deductible medical insurance plan can obtain an HSA. The IRS defined a high-deductible plan in 2010 as $1,200 a year for individuals and $2,400 for families.
FSAs, which were first authorized by Congress in 1978, are only available through employers who offer the plans. But FSAs face another new rule under the Affordable Care Act -- a limit on the pre-tax contributions to $2,500, starting Jan. 1, 2013. There is currently no limit on how much an employee can contribute to FSAs, although employers can impose one.

2010 Complete Election Coverage: Christine O'Donnell hits the stage at Values Voter Summit
Delaware GOP Senate candidate and tea party sensation Christine O'Donnell torched "ruling-class elites" and their "anti-Americanism," in her debut on the national stage Friday, encouraging the room of conservatives to lead a constitutional comeback in this year's midterm election.
O'Donnell's 17-minute speech before the Family Research Council's Value Voters Summit made no direct mention of her primary upset of nine-term Rep. Mike Castle Tuesday; it instead focused on the enthusiasm that's reinvigorated the conservative movement in the two years since President Obama took office.
"The conservative movement was told to curl up in a fetal position and just stay there for the next eight years, thank you very much. Well, how things have changed," O'Donnell said, to cheers.
O'Donnell, who defeated Castle by a 6-point margin despite sustained attacks on her misstatements and financial troubles – past and present — repeatedly chided "the ruling class" and championed "a rowdy revolution of reason."
"The small elite don't get us. They call us wacky. They call us wingnuts. We call us, 'We the people,'" she said to sustained applause. "We're loud, we're rowdy, we're passionate. … It isn't tame, but boy, it sure is good."
She also addressed the personal scrutiny and criticisms she has endured since her candidacy vaulted into the national spotlight just weeks ago, when she appeared to be gaining momentum against Castle in her third shot at a Senate seat.
"Will they attack us? Yes. Will they smear our backgrounds and distort our records? Undoubtedly. Will they lie about us, harass our families, namecall to try to intimidate us? They will. There's nothing safe about it. But is it worth it?" she said.
"Well, let me ask you. Is freedom worth it?" she asked, as the crowd chanted "Yes." "Is America worth it?"
She used her middle-class upbringing in New Jersey to briefly explain one of the most perplexing charges that has dogged her campaign — why it took her more than 15 years to earn her college degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
"I never had the high-paying job or the company car. It took me over a decade to pay off my student loans. I never had to worry about where to dock my yacht to reduce my taxes," she said, jabbing at Sen. John Kerry for dodging a six-figure yacht tax in his home state. '"And I'll bet most of you didn't, either."
O'Donnell argued that while Beltway elites are attempting to marginalize their movement, it’s conservatives who represent the core of mainstream America.
"We're not trying to take back our country. We are our country," O'Donnell said, before making a subtle reference to a phrase Obama has been using on the campaign trail. "That's what's happening in America today, the grown-ups are taking away the keys."
Continuing on that theme, the former television commentator lamented Washington bureaucrats who have "weaseled" their way into personal decisions that should be left up to individuals, using a line of attack first delivered by Sarah Palin.
"They even want unelected panels of bureaucrats to decide who gets what life-saving medical care and who is just too old, or it's too expensive to be worth saving," she said, a nod to the fictional "death panels" that Palin first used to attack the health care bill. "They'll buy your teenage daughter an abortion but they won't let her buy a sugary soda in a school's vending machine."
While O'Donnell lacked the sizzling electricity that is Palin’s trademark, her speech was smoothly delivered and well-received by the sympathetic crowd at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
Back in May at a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the president said Republicans wanted the keys back after "they drove the car into the ditch."
O’Donnell’s only other veiled reference to the president came when she spoke of "anti-Americanism" and criticized leaders for apologizing for America.
"When I talk to people out on the campaign trail in Delaware, I'm hearing frustration, not only with the direction our country is headed but with the anti-Americanism that taints every outlet of the ruling class. Americans want our leaders to defend our values, our culture, our legacy of liberty and our way of life, not apologize," she said.
O'Donnell's appearance at the Values Voter Summit marked O'Donnell's first address to a national audience. She began reintroducing herself to voters Thursday night in her first joint appearance with Democratic nominee Chris Coons at a candidate forum in Wilmington.
"It's no secret that there's been a rather unflattering portrait of me painted these days," she said during the forum. "I am fighting two political parties here in Delaware."
Just before she took the stage, O'Donnell announced via tweet that her campaign had raise more than $1.5 million in under 72 hours. "You are all amazing," she wrote.
Democrats issued no immediate reaction to O'Donnell's speech, signaling the delicacy with which they are initially handling her insurgent candidacy.

Another failed Communist State
Really? It doesn't work? It took Fidel Castro a lifetime of raping this beautiful island of Cuba to now admit that he was wrong. Too bad that the MSM is burying this story. It doesn't fit the model that they want for us.

HAVANA – Fidel Castro told a visiting American journalist that Cuba's communist economic model doesn't work, a rare comment on domestic affairs from a man who has conspicuously steered clear of local issues since stepping down four years ago.
The fact that things are not working efficiently on this cash-strapped Caribbean island is hardly news. Fidel's brother Raul, the country's president, has said the same thing repeatedly. But the blunt assessment by the father of Cuba's 1959 revolution is sure to raise eyebrows.
Jeffrey Goldberg, a national correspondent for The Atlantic magazine, asked if Cuba's economic system was still worth exporting to other countries, and Castro replied: "The Cuban model doesn't even work for us anymore" Goldberg wrote Wednesday in a post on his Atlantic blog.
He said Castro made the comment casually over lunch following a long talk about the Middle East, and did not elaborate. The Cuban government had no immediate comment on Goldberg's account.
Since stepping down from power in 2006, the ex-president has focused almost entirely on international affairs and said very little about Cuba and its politics, perhaps to limit the perception he is stepping on his brother's toes.
Goldberg, who traveled to Cuba at Castro's invitation last week to discuss a recent Atlantic article he wrote about Iran's nuclear program, also reported on Tuesday that Castro questioned his own actions during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, including his recommendation to Soviet leaders that they use nuclear weapons against the United States.
Even after the fall of the Soviet Union, Cuba has clung to its communist system.
The state controls well over 90 percent of the economy, paying workers salaries of about $20 a month in return for free health care and education, and nearly free transportation and housing. At least a portion of every citizen's food needs are sold to them through ration books at heavily subsidized prices.
President Raul Castro and others have instituted a series of limited economic reforms, and have warned Cubans that they need to start working harder and expecting less from the government. But the president has also made it clear he has no desire to depart from Cuba's socialist system or embrace capitalism.
Fidel Castro stepped down temporarily in July 2006 due to a serious illness that nearly killed him.
He resigned permanently two years later, but remains head of the Communist Party. After staying almost entirely out of the spotlight for four years, he re-emerged in July and now speaks frequently about international affairs. He has been warning for weeks of the threat of a nuclear war over Iran.

The Servants are our Masters.
The founding of this country provided human beings the freedoms that had only been imagined by previous generations and would be envied by the rest of the world. The Constitution gave us an innovative form of Government, that would be elected by the People for the People. We would no longer have kings or tyrants dictating which way to live our lives. We decided that through free market capitalism we would have an equal opportunity to prosper.
Our elected Government was there to provide a stable environment from which we could try to achieve our dreams and goals. They had to provide for common services which would maintain and upkeep such things. They would provide for our defense against enemies both foreign and domestic. Our public servants would come from our fellow citizens that were competent to fulfill these roles. The citizens would decide on what needed to be done to their communities both local and national, through the process of the vote.
There has never been any other place where our form of government has been put to practice. There are many democracies around the world but none come close to the freedoms that we have. Yet now, many of us are starting to become aware that the same political system that has brought us such freedoms has also enabled the Progressives to begin to slowly corrode our way of life by modeling it on foreign forms of governments in which the State has the power to control as many aspects of human life as it can.
This has not happened over night but very slowly by the Progressives who have been able to exploit the chinks in our armor. They have slowly tried to take God from our lives yet they cannot hide his presence. They mock him constantly by trying to take the Lord from our public areas, our schools and our basic building block, the natural family. The public school system have become indoctrination centers for the Progressives which has resulted in the dumbing down of the American People. They are now promoting Gay marriages which can never naturally result in issue for our future generation.
Our Progressive-controlled Government is trying to destroy our morality, our wealth and our happiness. They have total disregard for the Constitution which they mock by saying that it is a living document which can be changed at their whim. Our Government has taken a road that many of us never intended to travel. They have done this by manipulation and propaganda. Our servants have taken our country to such financial debts with most of it owned by a communist country, China.
Our public servants are slowly becoming our masters. So whose fault is this? Who is responsible for this happening? I'm afraid that we are. Our apathy of watching what our public servants were doing with our country. We took it for granted that because we had a two party system, that they could not both be corrupted enough to work for their own purposes rather then ours. You have all observed this year how our public servants have ignored our complaints and have passed laws that further put them in more control. The servants have become a political elite.
It is not too late to change this. We have to shake the apathy that has grown so prevalent in our lives. We must take the time to learn our Constitution and what our Rights are. We have to bring back our country to what the 'Founding Fathers' originally intended or we and our children's are destined to become servants to our masters, our public servants.

A PROCLAMATION
Americans live in freedom because of the extraordinary bravery, sacrifice, and dedication to duty of the members of our Armed Forces. From the first official Army parachute jump 65 years ago, our country's Airborne troops have played a crucial role in the defense of our Nation and our liberty. On National Airborne Day, we pay special tribute to these courageous soldiers who served with honor and integrity.
On August 16, 1940, the successful first jump of the Army Parachute Test Platoon laid the foundation for a new and innovative method of combat that helped contribute to an Allied victory in World War II. These bold pioneers answered the call of duty and set an example for future generations to follow. Since the designation of the Army's first Airborne division, the 82nd Airborne, on August 15, 1942, our Airborne troops have performed with valor. The brave men and women of our Airborne forces have worked to defeat tyranny, advance the cause of liberty, and build a safer world.
Today a new generation of Airborne forces is fighting a war against an enemy that threatens the peace and stability of the world. At this critical time, Airborne forces of the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force are continuing the noble tradition of the first sky soldiers. Americans are grateful for the service of our Airborne forces and all our troops, and we are inspired by the strength and sacrifice of our military members and their families.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim August 16, 2005, as National Airborne Day. I encourage all Americans to honor those who have served in the Airborne, and I also call upon all citizens to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.

I recall that one day awhile back as I was walking in a parking lot of a local market an elderly gentleman approached me. I was wearing a maroon jacket which had a large Airborne Wings on the back, along with the Air Assault Wings and the Glider Wings. He asked me if I was in the service and I told him that I was a proud veteran and that I had earned two of the wings on that jacket, the Army didn't have Gliders anymore.
He smiled at that and said that he had not only earned the Airborne Wings but also the Glider Wings. I was amazed and shocked by that. I stood in the presence of a person who had been part of the greatest airborne invasion in history, the Conquest of Fort Europe from the Nazis. I then noticed that he had a small Airborne Wings pin on his jacket. I was honored to have met him and thanked him for his service.

Progressive Thug Life
Comrade Congresswoman Melissa Bean D-IL won her seat in a predominant Republican District. I don't know how many times I have to say this, but elections have consequences. I don't mind if people want to screw themselves with these Progressives but it does bother me when policies and votes that they cast affect the rest of us. It is unfortunate that people tend to fall for the Obama Propaganda Machine or as now known to them as the MSM. Please watch this video as the Progressives fall back on their time-honored popular form of intimidation. This form of changing peoples minds become more intense the further to the Left one goes. This is the way it starts though and beware that you don't find yourself in a place like North Korea, China, Viet Nam or Cuba to see and feel what total control is like.
I think that this might be a new tactic that the Progressives use to quiet down the uppity citizens who question their actions. It is sad to say that the servants have become our masters.

Remove this Symbol of Tyranny
Please help let the Progressives who are destroying our country, know that we do not want a statue of the pig, Stalin, dispirit the memory of the brave angels who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and of the rest of the world on June 6, 1944. These American heroes should not be sullened by this statue and the Lefts revisionist history.
