A Salute to my fellow Cold Warriors out there. This is a sight that finally shows that Reagan's policies were correct. We have won and the former Soviets are no longer an enemy. I have to admit that it was a strange to see US Soldiers from the Army's 2nd Battalion, 18th Regiment marching in Red Square. The British are marching their Coldstream Guards. If you are wondering why the French are marching, this unit is part of an Air Squadron that fought with the Allies against the Nazis.
This is the first time that the World War II allies have marched together to celebrate their victory in 65 years. There was very little mention of this event on the MSM because of the current political situation here in the US. The Progressives view the the collapse of the former Soviet Union as a bitter reminder that their own ambitions are doomed to eventual failure.
This is what the Russians wrote about the event:
'U.S. troops marched through Red Square for the first time in a Victory Day parade on Sunday as Russia celebrated the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II.
It was a scene cut from Russia's Cold War nightmares: 71 Americans in dark blue dress uniforms carried the U.S. flag over the cobblestones, past the mausoleum of Vladimir Lenin and the towers of the Kremlin wall to salute Russian leaders.
...
Author Alexander Prokhanov, editor in chief of the nationalist Zavtra daily, called the appearance of U.S. servicemen in Red Square a national humiliation.
"The fact that American troops are trampling underfoot the cobblestones of Red Square is a huge shame and humiliation for Russia," Prokhanov said. "Thus they are celebrating their final victory not in World War II but in the Cold War." '
The Cold War was one of the longest that we were ever engaged in. We have suffered much from the different forms of the Leftist's ideology. We have to keep at it and continue our pursuit that the Constitution was written as the original intent of the founding fathers and that it is not a living changing document as the Progressives are always conveniently espousing to support their Leftist agenda and policies. There are some that say that we also lost the Cold War. We have to keep our faith in God that we will prevail.
