Ever since I was issued a M9 Bayonet, I always ensured that I kept the blade sharp as a razor's edge. It was a constant reminder to an Infantryman that when every other modern weapon system failed he had to rely on this most ancient weapon. I always had my bayonet at my side during every deployment. I always carried it and my men always carried theirs, even if not required my Commander. The pogues may not be trained to use it but rest assured that an Infantryman will always know how to use his bayonet.
To the Eternal Glory of the Infantry...
PS. I've also heard that the Marines still use theirs too.
