Chicago has had an increase of 25% in Homicides this year. Mayor Rahm Incompetent has balanced the city's budget by eliminating 1400 police jobs that were vacant, more retirements have and are occurring. This plan to hire 500 more Police Officers is not going to be very effective because it will not be able to keep up with the pace of retirements alone. Closures of Districts and Areas have made the Department smaller. Less is less.
Another factor that has been ignored is the large 'brain drain' as experienced officers leave. It takes about two years to really get the nuances of this job and be able to consider oneself subject matter capable, alone. It will take many years to start bringing down crime rates in this city to what is considered tolerable. Quality of Life will definitely not improved for many, but then, you get what you pay for and you get the Government that you elect. Elections matter.
Bloodbath will continue and the body count increase.
